A Happy Accident

Taking photos at night can be a challenge, but sometimes the unexpected can result in the most stunning images. This was the case for me when I took a picture of the London Eye at night. What makes this photo so unique is the fact that it was a complete accident. I forgot to change the shutter speed from a previous shot, and this is the result.

Shutter speed is one of the most important settings to consider when taking photos, especially at night. It determines how long the camera’s sensor is exposed to light. A slow shutter speed means the sensor is exposed to light for a longer period of time, resulting in more light being captured. This can be great for low-light situations, but it can also lead to blurry photos if the camera moves or if there is any movement in the scene.

The lines in the photo were caused by a couple of London buses that were between me and the subject, and prove that sometimes, the best images come from experimentation, taking risks, and a complete fluke!
